The first two instalments of the Unnatural (R)evolution series.

Part one, Runners, is all you need to know of how the Runners came into existence, in a world where the Destructors and Curables had been nemeses since the dawn of mankind.  Cole Storm carries the bloodline to cure any werewolf from their curse, while Autumn Walker was bred as the Destroyer and Queen of the Beasts.  But, the ancestors had interfered with their destinies since the Battle of Blood River.  Autumn and Cole are soul mates and because Autumn is of a skin-walker bloodline, this complicated their fates.

Part two, The Stray, follows Kalla, who was abandoned as a child and had to fight her way through indescribable trails.  When a pack of werewolves take her hostage, their alpha is nothing close to what she would have expected.  Truth and lies mingle and fester into what Kalla learns from the alpha, Aaron, could only be destiny.  The ever-present ancestors continue to bring forth the Unnatural Revolution in which, all the supernatural beings unite to stop mankind's evil ways.

Legends of werewolves, skin-walker ancestors, Masai ancestors and Enkai, their creator and even Egyptian Gods take a new form as the tale begins.  All these are only the first few of the Unnaturals you'll encounter before the Revolution takes place.

Unnatural (R)evolution: The Stray

"Move it, twat!"  Kalla told the guy bumping into her as she stepped into the shopping mall.  The place wasn't as busy as usual, but she knew all the big spenders would come after six, to get the things they needed before heading home after work.  The guy's - she had just bumped into- wallet was thicker than she expected as she stared at him leaving.

Something about him did seem faintly familiar, but his sleeve and brow tattoos weren't something one would easily forget.  Kalla continued, as planned, to the first clothing store, knowing she could pick some handbags in the changing stalls.  Grabbing a few random items off the racks, she headed into a dressing stall that had women next to hers on both sides.  Inwardly, she gave a chuckle that made her feel good in a bad kind of way.

Easy, Kalla thought as the one woman's handbag was already pushed halfway into her stall and covered with clothes.  Just a small tuck and she scooped out the purse, before doing the same with the other side's.  Removing all the money and stuffing it in the pockets of her bomber jacket, she finally got to the thick wallet she picked from the tattooed guy at the main entrance of the mall.

We'll come back for it later, the note on an A4 piece of paper said, which was lodged in one of the slots.

"Ha, no way, dude," Kalla muttered to herself.

"Excuse me?"  The woman in the next stall asked.

"Oh, uhm...  This dress is just wretched.  They look great on the displays, but make me look like a sl...sleaze."  Kalla said in her well-practiced, sweet girl tone.

"I know, right?  One time at..."  Kalla walked out as she heard the woman wanting to take on a full conversation.  She left all the leftover wallets in the stall and headed for the door.  Moving to the next store, she caught a glimpse of a woman she recognized from her last foster home and ducked behind a clothing rack at the back.

Suddenly, the lights went out and everyone yelled as Kalla stared through the glass window at the front of the store.  She saw the entire mall was cloaked in a shroud of darkness.  A woman yelled something about a wolf and then she was silent.  In the store Kalla was, a sudden smashing sounded through the store as the rack with perfumes fell over and then people began screaming down the hallway of the mall.  Excruciating screams, representing the sounds of Tartarus, came and went in rushes.

Kalla felt panic strike up inside her as the yells drew closer and then stopped.  She stalked closer to the back of the shop, pushing herself in between the clothes, trying to hide.  Her heart beat uncontrollably in her chest and she heard the few other people in the store telling one another to keep quiet.

Kalla had pushed herself out of the clothes and stared back through the glass wall of the store.  No, that can't be.  Can it?  Kalla thought as she saw the first werewolf walking past the window on its hind legs, like those from the old horror movies she usually watched.  Not the teen-fan-fiction types, no, like those scary motherfuckers from Dog Soldiers.  She stared again and another passed by, but this one stopped.  A visible scar ran over its muzzle and the thing's eyes shone a brilliant crimson red as its nose shot up in the air, and then seemed to stare straight at her.  The scars twisted as it seemed to smirk at her, frightening Kalla.

Her breath caught as she stumbled out of the clothes and fell over the rack that held the broken perfume bottles.  The glass began cutting her just as the front of the store's people began yelling in agonizing pain.  Kalla wanted to scream as the perfume began burning the cuts on her legs and hands, which made them feel deeper than they were.

She quickly gazed up over the rack, trying to see what was going on.  The woman she knew was being ripped to shreds and a man's head was aimlessly rolling around.  Kalla quickly dodged back down behind the rack and shuffled closer to it as she tried hiding herself.

Werewolves don't exist!  What the fuck is going on!  Kalla was panicked as she heard the monsters come closer to the back.  One suddenly leapt over the rack, causing her to completely stop breathing, as it went into the dressing rooms.  Three more people yelled and Kalla was lost; should she move away before it returned and saw her, or should she stay put and not run into another?

Racks began falling and the sound of ripping fabrics sounded through the vintage clothing shop as the Marilyn Manson version of Sweet Dreams played over the fainting yells that came from down the mall's hallway.  Kalla looked back at the dressing room entrance, awaiting the werewolf to return.  Unexpectedly, the full weight of a huge man was on her and his hand covered her mouth.

Is he fucking naked? She thought as she lay lifeless beneath him, only just able to see the little light in the store reflecting from his eyes.  Kalla couldn't even panic, as she knew it was fatal either way.  The room was too dark for her to see anything, but somehow the man's scent was arousing and it calmed her.

Great, I'm going insane.  His hand moved away from her mouth and down to her neck, where he seemed to feel her pulse.  He showed her to shush with his finger and then his hand softly pulled on her jacket's zipper.

He's gonna rape me now? Kalla thought as her heart began to hasten for some strange reason.  His hand came down to her chest and he pressed it a bit harder in between the valley of her breasts.  She began squirming as his hand moved to her breast and he squeezed it.  Bringing her hand up, she tried to smack him in the face, but he effortlessly stopped her.

Bending forward, he moved her shirt, took a whiff at her chest and a rumbling sound came from him.  His eyes turned a blazing red and Kalla tried hitting him again, but her hand smashed into his cheek, just as the lights came back on.  She couldn't move, even her hand stayed on his left cheek.  He was smirking as his face and body became covered in fur, and his ribs audibly broke as his thorax pushed forward.  The werewolf that went into the dressing room came back out and another stepped up behind her.

"Oh, fuck."  Kalla whispered.

"We told you we'll come back for it, skin-walker," the werewolf holding her down said, just before his muzzle came in.  It all went black as he hit her head against the floor and she passed out.
