Author Quickie with...Ryan Toxopeus
NOTE:
These are the most random Qs I could find and come up with, but it is to show readers how authors are just like them or maybe so different that they are their own species. I have several awesome authors already lined up, but don't let it scare you to take part though. I'll be sharing with you all; the answers to the set questions and introduce you to some awesome people, and later, all of this will be used in a statistical type blog. Hopefully, we can keep this going for as long as possible and gain as many author's inputs to make this thing grow.
But it doesn't stop there:
~If you are an author who is interested in taking part in this silly game of mine; message, email or find me on a social network.
~If you are a reader and wanna take part; do the same and become part of the fun. (It'll be really cool to have your stats as well.)
~If you are none of the above...ag, shame. Anyway, if you are an artist, a doctor, a barista or just randomly ended up here; bring it on and we can have a little fun when the stats have grown.

Morning person or night owl?
I used to be a night owl, but my kids wake up somewhere between 6 and 6:30, so if I want to function, it’s bed early.
Coffee, tea or neither?
Neither! I can’t believe you had that option. No one ever has that option, and then I get looks like I’m from another dimension for not liking either of them.
EBooks or printed books?
I like both! I use my e-reader on the bus to and from work, which is handy for editing my own books, and I like paperback when I’m reading to my kids. I just broke out the old Harry Potter books with my daughter, and she loves them!
Bookmark or dog-ear pages?
Bookmark.
Extrovert or Introvert?
Introvert. I feel like maybe I’m not as painfully introverted as I used to be, but I still like to have alone time to recharge my batteries. And does anyone else find it really hard to make new friends as an adult?
Secret talents? If so, what are they?
I’m double jointed, so I can do a M sitting position, and touch my wrist with my thumb. I used to entertain/freak out kids in grade school with that one. I also have an unusually squishy nose. That’s not really a talent, unless it’s useful that I can squash my nose against my daughter’s and it doesn’t hurt.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Time travel. Nothing beats time travel.
What is your biggest fear?
Harm coming to my kids. A related fear is my mother-in-law. Seriously. If my wife wrote a book about her life growing up, and her adult relationship with her now-estranged mother, people would say it was too unrealistic to publish.
You have three wishes, what are they?
1. People who intentionally cause human suffering (e.g., psychopaths, sociopaths, narcissists) wherever they go are teleported into the sun.
2. A clean Earth for my kids to grow up on.
3. No more religion. That might fall under wish #1, but I really, really want to make sure that the whole needless suffering thing stops. We need to be nice to each other and share this planet peacefully.
If you could forever break one habit, what would it be?
I don’t know you well enough to get into that!
Your favourite:
Colour - I never had a favourite colour until just recently. My daughter bought her mom a game called Don’t Be Greedy, and there are four treasure chests for four players: Red, Blue, Purple, and Green. My daughter loves red, my son loves blue, and my wife loves purple, so I wound up with green. Then my son started saying my favourite colour is green, and it’s sort of grown on me.
Animal - Moose. It’s so huge and powerful, yet peaceful and gentle. Unless it’s rutting season.
Mythical Creature - Dragons have been my favourite for as long as I can remember. The first fantasy book I read was The Legend of Huma, and that image of him riding a dragon will be forever burned in my mind. I was so excited to have my own dragon, Fyrsanthemar the God Crusher, show up on my second book’s cover.
Author - Traditional published: R A Salvatore. I haven’t kept up with his work, but I’ve loved Drizzt since I was a teen. Self-published: Andy Goldman. His “The Only City Left” series is fantastic. Aikido cats, werewolf ghosts, super-human aliens, killer skeletal automatons… so many fun ideas.
Book - My daughter just made me her first book the other day. It’s two pages, and it’s the most adorable thing ever. She’s so proud, and when I posted a picture of it on Google Plus, she was thrilled to have her book online for other people to enjoy. She says she’s an author just like her daddy, now! :)
Movie - Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
Music Genre - Whatever my wife plays. :)
TV Show - The Walking Dead. Except for Season 2. Man that was slow. I get why they did it, but ugh.
Place to Read - On the bus on the way to and from work.
Food - My wife’s lasagna. I joke that it’s the reason I married her. It’s THAT GOOD!
Beverage (Alcoholic and/or Non-Alcoholic) - Rum and Coke. / 1% milk.
Dessert - Lemon meringue pie
Word - Sonder
Season - Winter. I love shoveling giant snow hills for the kids to play on.
Procrastination method - Taking part in silly author interviews. Reading the news. Keeping up with social media.
Turn on or turn off
Accents - British (on), Hicksville Bible Belt (off)
Surprises - I guess it would depend...
Shyness - On
Quiet Places - On
Loud Places - Off
Dimples - On!
Glasses - On
Scars - Off
Games - On!
Comic Books - Doesn’t really matter.
What is your motto?
If I’m bored writing, readers will be bored reading it!
See you on the other side!
